Before I Die: This novel is about a sixteen year old girl suffering with leukemia. After finding out that she only has a matter of months before her death, she creates a list of things she'd like to do before then. The book focuses on her new and adventurous experiences till her very last moments.

The Fault in Our Stars: The main character, Hazel Grace, has an incurable lung cancer. To comfort her about what she's going through, she joins a group with other cancer patients. There, she meets Augustus Waters, a leg cancer patient, who was there to support his blind friend. The two end up falling for each other and embarking on a trip to Germany where they meet a heartless author, experience new things, and share something shocking that foreshadows their future together. I've seen the movie for this book and overall, its an incredibly touching story that's sure to make you tear up.

A Walk To Remember: This love story set in North Carolina is a true classic. Landon Carter is a seventeen year old senior in high school who is forced to participate in school activities and gain community hours after a terrible accident with another student. He then meets Jamie Sullivan through the school play, whose almost the opposite of him. The two end up falling for each other and eventually Jamie shares her heartbreaking secret, which creates a barrier between their love and fate forever. I have also seen the movie for this book and It`s extremely heartbreakingly romantic, and the two characters share an unforgettable journey.

Drums, Girls & Dangerous Pie:  This novel is about a gifted junior high drummer named Steven whose little brother Jeffrey, has leukemia. Because of his brother`s illness, Steven receives a lot of unwanted pity and sympathy. Later on, he starts focusing on his brother, and joins his parents every night at the hospital. There, he meets a friendly girl who has an illness herself, and the two develop a mutual friendship. Through the course of the book Steven learns that she tragically dies. From then on he looks at life differently, and finds himself loving in ways he never has before.

 All these novels explore the experience of having cancer (mostly leukemia) and the conflicts involved especially in relationships with peers that introduce new perspectives to the reader. These books also tie in themes of love, trust, and right versus wrong similarly to ``Sisters Keeper.``
